Q.
You recently completed your MBA while continuing your work as an Engineer in Training — a major accomplishment. What motivated you to pursue advanced education while actively building your career, and how has that experience shaped your professional perspective?

A.
Getting a master's degree was always on my to-do-list and I am glad to have completed my MBA while working full time. Being in a position that requires me to balance engineering, marketing, and leadership skills, MBA seemed like the best option. It certainly has given me more confidence as a professional and the ability to work with diverse groups within the company.

Q.
The infrastructure industry is evolving quickly, with growing conversations around resilience, sustainability, and innovation. How do you view the role the next generation of engineers will play in shaping that future?

A.
The next generation needs to keep sustainability at the center of infrastructure development. As engineers, we have been taught to focus on design, structure, and function with little to no focus on sustainability. The next gen engineers need to make sure the future development enhances the life of the public long-term. I hope we see projects that advance the life of the general public while keeping the environment in mind.

Q.
Engineering and leadership often require balancing technical expertise with strategic thinking. How has earning your MBA influenced the way you approach problem solving, leadership, and long-term career growth?

A.
As an engineer, I used to have a one-dimensional approach towards problem solving. Learning about business principles and concepts has equipped me to have a well-rounded knowledge when approaching projects at work. A few years down the line, I can see myself in serious leadership roles where I can not only be a part of a team but also lead one.

Q.
Many industries are working to attract and empower more young professionals entering technical fields. What has your journey taught you about the importance of investing in the next generation of talent within engineering and infrastructure?

A.
It is absolutely important to invest in young engineers. I got an opportunity to intern with ACPA in my senior year of college which opened a door for me into the precast concrete world. We need to keep investing in younger talent, so we keep the momentum. There is hesitation around hiring young people, but they bring a lot of new knowledge, perspective, and energy into the workforce which is crucial for the growth of any industry.

Q.
Looking ahead, what kind of impact do you hope to make — both within your own career and within the broader infrastructure industry as it continues to evolve?

A.
Working in the precast industry for the last five years has been life-changing for me, so I wish to contribute my knowledge and expertise into the advancement of the precast industry. Along with my own professional growth, I want to inspire young engineers, especially, women to pursue their career in engineering and construction. I genuinely believe you cannot invest in the development of infrastructure without investing in people and their growth.
